Schools worldwide are creating and benefiting from effective e-Learning environments and learning from each other as they strive for 1:1 computing adoption. This session offered an in-depth discussion on e-Learning and a roadmap to success.

Best Practices in 21st Century Technology Assessment and Professional Development

Determining the current technology and 21st Century literacy of your teachers and students can be challenging in more ways than one. In this fast-paced session, educators and administrators learned how to integrate a non-threatening, web-based assessment module that leads to a customized professional development plan for teachers and students alike. Based on best-practice models, they covered a step-by-step approach including benchmarking, individualized learning plans, mentoring, dynamic content and collaborative online areas. The session introduced participants to 21st century learning strategies in integrating new technology hardware, software and peripherals. It was centered on specific academic goals and state standards so computer literacy and student test scores can improve.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Deploying 1:1 Environments

Lenovo education experts de-mystified the initially daunting task of planning and implementing 1:1 programs. This practical overview provided a sample project plan and offer guidance based on successful 1:1 implementations around the country. Lenovo also warned of common pitfalls in the day to day operations surrounding mobile computing programs and offered pragmatic solutions to issues commonly associated with safety, security, warranty, and faculty technology adoption. The second half of the session was devoted to deconstructing current implementations and gleaning the most salient lessons learned from other schools' experiences with 1:1.

Hands-on Session
Steve Adler, Learning Systems Integrator, Adobe Education Leader
Using the Adobe Digital School Collection (featuring Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, Premiere Elements 4, Acrobat Professional 8 and Contribute 4), participants learned how to integrate digital media tools with core academic content in lesson plans and increase student participation in class projects. Attendees learned how to motivate students with real world learning activities that develop problem solving, collaboration, and effective communication skills.
